Blue highlights show words which can be replaced with better ones. However, the system is far from perfect. While it will detect glaring errors, some mistakes will still get through. Also, it is severely limited by a 3000-character highlight limit – users may only proofread blocks of text at a time and never entire long documents in one go. Microsoft Word’s grammar checker identifies errors as soon as they are typed, so this is one big letdown for the program.
