Coca-Cola: Celebrating 125 Years of Happiness

Probably one of the best things Atlanta is known for is that it plays host to a number of very large multinational companies’ headquarters that are famous all around the world, and you can’t get any more famous than Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola has been around for generations and its globally-recognized logo is perhaps the most easily recognizable symbol in the whole world, more famous than most foreign nations’ national flags. This year, Coca-Cola is celebrating its 125th year anniversary worldwide with numerous promos and special events, and Atlanta kicks off the celebration with a year round line-up of events highlighted by the World of Coca-Cola Summer Celebration and Happy Factory right outside the Coca-Cola World Center as well as a special art exhibit entitled 125 Years of Coca-Cola by famous Georgia artist, Steve Penley at the Pop Culture Gallery.

Coca-Cola celebrates its 125th year of existence at the place where it all began—Atlanta, Georgia. Born in 1886, Coca-Cola has been promoting love and happiness to everybody all around the world over for more than a century—an impressive feat for any company and the celebration will equally be impressive as well. An impressive array of celebration will be lined up all throughout the year all over the world, and the party officially kicked off last May 7 at the World of Coca-Cola Complex in Atlanta.

You and your family and friends can enjoy the "Happiness Factory" experience outside the Coca-Cola World Center: 6-hole, themed mini golf right outside the complex. The mini golf is open to all and is free for all guests with a World of Coca-Cola ticket. Those without tickets are still able to enjoy the experience for a small $3 entrance fee.

Inside the complex, you will be able to view the new 6-minute animated film called "Happification" inside the Happiness Factory Theater. You can also meet and greet Wendy, one of the Happification characters, so better get your camera ready for a photo op with Wendy as well as the huggable Coca-Cola Polar Bear. Strictly no feeding the bears here, only hugs and candid photo ops will be allowed.

You can also watch the 125 Years of Coca-Cola art exhibit by Georgia artist Steve Penley at the Pop Culture Gallery celebrating Coca-Cola’s 125th Anniversary. This special exhibit features a giant 48 feet mural painted celebrating the momentous landmark in Coca-Cola’s history, among others, and will run until 2012. Steve Penley’s bold, iconic pop-cultural and evocative style is well renowned, and some of his work features Coca-Cola as his subject and some of his paintings have found their way into the permanent collection of the Coca-Cola Company.

You can also take home a soon to be collector’s edition, 125th Anniversary Commemorative Bottle—free! You can redeem the bottle at the Taste It exhibit, where you can sample 64 different varieties of Coca-Cola from all around the world! Better hurry though; these commemorative bottles will only be given out while supplies last.

After all the fun and excitement for the day, you can cap it off by bringing home a commemorative 125th Year Anniversary Book at the Coca-Cola World Center Store. The book contains over a hundred year’s worth of illustrations, facts, photos and advertisements, and memorable clippings from film and other media showcasing Coca-Cola’s history and impact on our pop culture for more than a century.

The World of Coca-Cola Summer Celebration as well as the 125 Years of Coca-Cola Art Exhibit are ongoing events and are taking place right now at the World of Coca-Cola World Center Complex at Pemberton Place, 121 Baker Street, Atlanta, Georgia.
